Spyridon “Spyros” Ioannis Legakis

Spyridon “Spyros” Ioannis Legakis, 65, a resident of Cape Coral for the past three years, formerly of Boca Raton, FL and Chicago, IL, passed away Friday, June 16, 2023 in Cape Coral.  He was born October 21, 1957 in Athens, Greece to Ioannis and Anna Legakis, now deceased.  He is also predeceased by his loving brother, Emanuel Legakis.

Spyros was of the Greek Orthodox faith attending St. Marks Church of Boca Raton and St. Demitrius of Ft. Lauderdale. He was truly a man of honor. He worked tirelessly to take care of his family, friends, and even strangers through donations. He, on several occasions, performed physical acts of bravery to save lives he saw in danger whether on the road, at the racetrack, or whenever the danger was in his presence. You knew this man forever once you met him for the first time. His presence was as powerful and demanding as it was loving and giving. His legacy will live on in the impactful memories he leaves with so many.

He is survived by his loving wife of seventeen years, Lucille “Luci” Legakis of Cape Coral; one child, Ioannis “Yanni” Legakis of Boca Raton, FL; one sister, Theodora “Dora” Papadimas (Nasos) of Athens, Greece; two nieces, Anna (Vaggelis) and Danai (Vaggelis); one nephew, Apostolos (Christina); two great nephews, Elias and Nasos; loving mother-in-law, Joyce Chimera; as well as his beloved animals, Cleo & Teddy the cats and Prudence the dog.

Funeral Services will be held at 12:00 PM on Saturday, June 24, 2023 at the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, 962 East Ave., Rochester, NY 14607 with Father Angelo officiating.  All are welcome to join together here, who are able.
