Stephen Ring Nadle, 82, a SW Florida Floridan since 1992, formerly of River Forest, IL, passed away Thursday, February 15, 2024 in Punta Gorda, FL. He was born October 2, 1941 in Berwyn, IL to Orville and Marjorie Nadle, now deceased.
Stephen was a Morton East High School graduate who took classes at Northwestern prior to enlisting in the U.S. Airforce. He married his high school sweetheart Marie and they moved to where he was stationed in Niceville, FL. While in the service he received his degree from Florida State in Tallahassee.
After completing his military service, he moved his family back to the Chicagoland area and he was offered his first job by retail giant Sears Roebuck. That offer began a 27-year career that took him from roles such as Department Buyer to his last as National Merchandise Manager which he held when he retired in 1990. During his career with Sears, he travelled the world including multi-month stints in New York City and multiple trips to Japan, Canada and Mexico.
Away from work and later into retirement he and Marie continued their love for travel having eventually been on multiple European cruises, travelled to Machu Pichu, white water rafted down the Colorado River, visited Vietnam and Cambodia, camped for a month on an African Safari, sailed the Caribbean, and travelled via recreational vehicle throughout the U.S. and Canada. Throughout it all the mountains seemed to be his favorite place for peace.
Steve was dedicated to his family in life and retirement and if his family needed anything he would move heaven and earth to make it happen and deliver on his promise to ‘protect and provide’. And to his friends he was always your biggest supporter and fan. If you casually mentioned a personal or work issue he would listen intently then call you hours later after having deliberated and noodled it to a solution. Steve was a avid reader, loved golf, tennis, bridge, boats, motorcycles, and crossword puzzles but mostly he loved his wife. And when she passed away in 2021 much of his love of life went with her. Steve is now back with his bride where he always belonged and he will be missed greatly.
He is survived by two children, Rosann Maher (David) of Hutchinson, MN, and Stephen Nadle (Lisa) of La Grange Park, IL; one sister, Allison Nadle of Cape Coral, FL; numerous nieces and nephews; as well as grandchildren, Ashley, Katie, Alec, Reece, and Avery.
Stephen was preceded in death by wife, Marie C. Nadle in 2021; as well as brother, David Nadle.
