Terry Gene Ledford, 75, a resident of Cape Coral, FL since 1985, formerly of Whittier, CA and Retired United States Marine Vietnam Veteran, passed away early on the morning of Thursday, September 5, 2024, in Cape Coral. He was born November 14, 1948, in Trion, GA. son to Fred Hayden Ledford and Dorothy Lee Ledford.
Terry was a loving Husband and United States Marine who served two tours during the Vietnam War as a Marine Sniper until 1973. Once he completed his second tour, He and his wife Rose and their children then moved to Whittier CA where he worked off the coast of California on oil rigs for many years. He and his family then moved to Cape Coral, FL in 1985 where he became the first person to create and build the first recycling center of his own creation. He then became a Master Painter for his remaining career. All his remaining time was spent becoming a lifetime member of the VVA after serving as Chapter President for VFW and then VVA for many years, as well as charity work with his wife through the VFW and VVA. He will be remembered not only by the well-placed Dad jokes he was known for but for every time you see an American flag flying high with pride or hear a fellow Marine call to his fellow brothers and sisters “Semper Fi and Ooh-Rah!”
Terry is lovingly remembered by his three children, Fred Hayden “Ty” Ledford (Sheila), Chase Ledford (Robin), Cassy Rose (Ledford)Weiser; sister, Cindy K (Ledford) Parks; aunt, Jane Brown; ten grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren; four great, great grandchild; two nephews and two nieces; along with extended family and anyone who was blessed enough to call him a friend/brother.
Terry was preceded in death by his wife, soul mate and best friend, Rose Marie (Brighindi) Ledford; mother, Dorothy Ledford and his older brother, James “Randy” Ledford.
A private Graveside Service was held at Sarasota National Cemetery with Military Honors on December 9, 2024, with him and his wife joined together again for eternity being placed together in a niche.
