Thomas Hoffman Timmer, a resident of Fort Myers, FL since 2018, formerly of Marco Island, FL, San Antonio, TX, and Tipp City, OH, passed away Wednesday, May 8, 2024, in Fort Myers. He was born December 14, 1937, in Troy, OH to Thomas and Rose Timmer, now deceased.

Thomas (Tom) was a graduate of Tippecanoe High School and The Ohio State University (OSU). Tom was a member of Alpha Gamma Rho, the agricultural fraternity, while attending OSU, initiated in 1958. Upon graduation Tom joined the family business, Tip Top Canning Company in Tipp City, Ohio, where he worked until retiring as President in 1996. Tom served as President of the Ohio Food Processors Association and was instrumental in the creation of the new multi-state Mid-America Food Processors Association. While a resident of Tipp City, Tom served as a volunteer firefighter and was once the Chair of the Tipp City Chamber of Commerce.

Tom was a fervent fan of The Ohio State Buckeyes and was a football season ticket holder for 40 years.  Tom was also a supporter of the university, a lifetime President’s Club member, and specifically the Department of Food Science and Technology, having served as the vice chair of the 1995 Building Connections Campaign. The culmination of Tom’s support of The Ohio State University was the establishment of The Thomas H. and Elizabeth E. Timmer, Distinguished Visitor Endowment in Food Science and Technology. Once retired, Tom enjoyed volunteering at Habitat for Humanity.

Tom could often be found at the gun range, trap shooting in Texas, Ohio, and Florida.
