Tracy Jean Smith, 44, a Lee County resident for over 25 years, formerly of Largo, Florida and Conrad, Iowa, passed away Sunday, September 13, 2015 in Cape Coral. She was born March 16, 1971 in Marshalltown, Iowa.
Tracy was a member of First Assembly West in Cape Coral. She worked for many years in the retail furniture business however her most treasured and recent occupation was taking care of other peoples "fur babies" as she called them while they were out of town. She loved this "job" and enjoyed working with all of her clients and their "kids". She also thoroughly enjoyed volunteering for various organizations including WayFm (her favorite radio station), American Cancer Society (and Relay for Life), Oma's Heart (she worked the wrapping station after parents would choose their Christmas presents for their children-she was the last face they got to see), and of course she gave always at her church First Assembly West (she would help in various areas from guest services, preparing coffee, being a runner during events or just being there and saying "put me to use"). She was also very proud about a huge recent accomplishment of obtaining her Bachelor's degree at the age of 43 all online and all while battling her fight with cancer. Tracy was known for her scrapbooking and her love of creating beautiful memories with photos and words. Tracy was also very well known for her huge heart and love for all; her smile and hugs at just the right time will be missed.
She is survived by her maternal grandfather "GPa" Ron Kaufmann Sr. of Largo, FL; parents, Rex and Bonnie Smith of Largo, FL; daughter, Chelsea Bent (Justin) of Lehigh Acres, FL; step daughter, Robin Favor (Danial) of Clarksville, TN; siblings, Stewart Smith, Shannon Smith, Sally Jones, all of IA, Darrell Essen of CA, Margie Smith of MN, and Tessia Mathes of NB; five grandchildren, Kaleigh, Alexa, Cole, Keedan, and Onna; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews; as well as best friend, Michelle Wyatt and numerous close friends that seemed as an outpouring of her family.
Tracy was preceded in death by sister, Sindy Smith, paternal grandmother Marjorie Fink and maternal grandmother, Mabel Jean Kaufmann.
A Celebration of Life will be held 10:30 AM Saturday, September 19, 2015 at First Assembly West, 121 Del Prado Blvd. S, Cape Coral, FL 33990 with Pastor Corey Baker officiating. Tracy's family requests that friends and family wear bright colorful clothing to celebrate as Tracy has requested.
In lieu of flowers please make a donation in Tracy's name to one of the organizations that she donated so much of her time to (WayFM, American Cancer Society, Oma's Heart or First Assembly West) or to Hope Hospice where she spent the last 9 days of her life.
