It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our dear wife, mother, and friend, Tricia M Prentice, who left this world on June 29, 2023, at the early age of fifty. Her warm presence, radiant smile, and boundless love will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Born in the Bronx, Tricia’s family moved to Rockland County where she spent the second half of her childhood life, making lifelong friends, and eventually met her husband. They moved to Orange County, started a family, and developed long lasting bonds with many more friends. Trish eventually called Cape Coral, Florida home for the past 7 years, where she embraced life to the fullest. A passionate traveler, she loved exploring and discovering new places and cultures. Her greatest joy was always found in the company of her children, Alyssa, Trevor, and most recently her unofficial adopted daughter, Makayla, whom she adored with all her heart. Their happiness was her purpose, and she selflessly dedicated her life to nurturing and supporting them.
Family meant everything to Trish and her love extended beyond her immediate relatives. She cherished her husband Russ, her sister-in-law Corrina, and her beloved Aunt Terri Sorel of Pomona. She also held her Aunt MaryAnn and husband Bill Hass of Concord, MA close to her heart. Trish loved being an aunt to Jeffrey, Jason, Morgan, Rylee, and Hailee, as well as visiting nephews, David, and Benjamin Prentice. Her large extended family was a source of strength and joy throughout her life.
Tricia was a graduate of Oneonta College, where she nurtured her passion for learning. Yet, when motherhood called, she made the selfless decision to put her education career on hold to focus on raising her children with love and care.
Her warm and caring nature touched the lives of many friends. Trish had an extraordinary ability to make everyone around her feel valued and cherished. Her friendship was a gift, and she generously shared it with all who were fortunate enough to know her.
The beach and ocean held a special place in Tricia’s heart. She found tranquility in the waves and joy in the sun, spending countless hours building cherished memories with her loved ones. Trish had a playful spirit and loved engaging in games with her family and friends, creating moments of laughter and happiness while enjoying tasty food.
Trish was a true embodiment of kindness and selflessness. Her unwavering willingness to lend a helping hand and her genuine concern for others made her a pillar of support in both good times and bad. Her presence could light up any room, and her spirit will forever be etched in the hearts of those she touched.
Tricia is preceded in death by her loving parents, Nicolas and Joan Irizarry, and her dear brothers, Frank and Nick Irizarry, the most recent loss still fresh in our hearts. Though she has left this world, the memories of her warmth, compassion, and love will continue to guide and inspire us.
In the wake of this profound loss, we take solace in the fact that Tricia has now found peace in the embrace of eternity. We will celebrate her life and legacy, cherishing the memories she leaves behind. A Celebration of Life will be held to honor her memory.
