William "Billy" Howard Cass, Sr.

William Howard Cass, "Billy" 86, of Ft. Myers, FL resident for the past 76 years, passed away Monday, March 21, 2016 in Ft. Myers. He was born March 1, 1930 in Junction City, OR to John and Goldie Cass, now deceased. Billy was never called Bill or William he preferred Billy. He had many interest in life which included music, reading, cartoon drawings, farming and planting. He was an entertainer both in private and public life. He had a quick wit and enjoyed telling jokes and never lost his sense of humor or positive attitude. Billy was of the Christian faith. He was known as a songwriter and musician, especially playing the dobro. In his younger years he performed on television in a band called the Country Boys. His children remember him for his kindness and easy smile; he taught them about respect, hard work and strong Christian values. He is survived by his wife Betty Cass of Ft. Myers; five loving children: Billy Cass, Jr., Teri Taylor and Barbara Spratlin of Ft Myers, FL, Luke Cass of Bonita Springs, FL, and Beverly Jane Pendley of Nashville, TN; eleven grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Billy was preceded in death by his beautiful wife Virginia of fifty five years, also his talented grandson, Lane Pauli; five older siblings, Jack, Beulah, Mabel, Peggy, Birdie. Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, March 26, 2016 at Eagle's Nest Church, 14561 Palm Beach Blvd., Ft. Myers, FL 33905. Interment to follow at Ft. Myers Cemetery, 3200 Michigan Ave., Ft. Myers, FL 33916. The family will be receiving friends for visitation from 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM Friday, March 25, 2016 at Mullins Memorial, 3654 Palm Beach Blvd., Ft. Myers, FL 33916.
