Wilmar "Bill" H. Schmidt, Jr., 91, a Cape Coral, FL resident for the past eight years, formerly of Racine and Kenosha, WI, passed away Sunday, May 29, 2016 in Ft. Myers. He was born May 10, 1925 in Racine, WI to Wilmar and Martha Schmidt, Sr., now deceased.
He volunteered and served in the U.S. Navy during WWII (1943-1945) as a Seabee. After serving he built a successful sales career in the Dairy industry. Wilmar was baptized of the Lutheran faith; he also was a Mason. Some of his hobbies were: pigeon racing; breeding canaries; reading; watching Western-themed movies; playing Solitaire; and gardening.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Gloria Schmidt, of Cape Coral; five loving children, Paul, Bruce, Marc, and Steve Schmidt, all of WI, and Wilmar, III. of FL; 14 grandchildren; as well as many great grandchildren.
Wilmar was preceded in death by his former wife, Jean Molbeck-Schmidt; a son, John Schmidt; as well as his sisters and brothers.
A Memorial Service with Military Honors will be held at 7:30 AM on Saturday, June 11, 2016 at Jaycee Park, 4125 SE 20th Place, Cape Coral, FL 33904.
