Candace Cherie Rhodes, 51, a lifelong resident of Fort Myers, passed away Wednesday, December 11, 2024 in Fort Myers. She was born March 18, 1973 to Leroy and Patricia Higginson, now deceased.
Candace was a follower of the Christian faith, raised in the Church of God in Fort Myers, most recently attending Next Level Church of Fort Myers. She was a beloved mother, friend, and mentor of many. Candace offered assistance and guidance to all she could, based on her real-world experiences. Her friendship, spirit, and passion will live on within the SWFL community and beyond.
Candace was a graduate of Wesleyan college of Macon, Georgia. She graduated with a BS in History with a minor in Political Science. She continued on to be a teacher at Riverdale High school, an IT professional at Sony, a child protective investigator for the Department of Children and Families, and finally, a stay-at-home home-maker and care-giver to her disabled aunt and both of her parents in their later years. Candace was always giving of herself more than she asked for or received and always thought of others before herself.
Candace is survived by her loving husband, Matthew Rhodes of Fort Myers, FL; two children, Hunter Higginson of Fort Myers, FL and Autumn Rhodes of Houston, TX as well as three sisters, Jennifer Moore (Scott) of Cape Coral, FL, Cindy Wood (TJ) of Lacey, WA, and Collette Abrahan (David) of Houston, TX.
