David Dwight Worthington

July 10, 1945 — September 11, 2024

David Dwight Worthington, 79, a resident of Lee County, Florida for the past 46 years, formerly of Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 11, 2024 in North Fort Myers, Florida. Dave was born on July 10, 1945 in Allentown, PA to George and Mildred Worthington, now deceased.

In 1963, Dave graduated from Minersville High School in Minersville, Pennsylvania.  Following graduation, he became a laborer in the construction industry.  Then, in 1965, Dave enlisted in the US Navy and later, did a tour of duty as a Gunner's Mate on the destroyer USS Southerland DD743 in Vietnam.  Coming back to Pennsylvania following his discharge, he then became a union concrete finisher. 

In 1978, Dave and his family relocated to Fort Myers, Florida where he began his own stamped concrete business which he operated until 2008.  Following his retirement, Dave then worked as a Florida Road Ranger and later as a school bus driver for Lee County, a position which gave him great pleasure transporting the young children which he loved.

Dave is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Cassandria (Sandy) Worthington, his two sons, Brian Worthington and Mark Worthington (Jennie Worthington) all of North Fort Myers, FL, sister-in-law, Shirley Geyer of Cape Coral, FL, sister Susan Worthington of Hendersonville, NC as well as several nieces and nephews.  He also leaves behind his three beloved dogs.

Dave was preceded in death by his siblings Edwin Geyer, Richard Geyer and Doris Potts as well as his brother Charles Geyer who passed five days after Dave.

No formal services are planned at this time.
