Donald Czernisz

Donald Czernisz, 89, a resident of Cape Coral, formerly of Wisconsin and St. Petersburg, passed away Thursday, May 22, 2025 in Cape Coral.  He was born May 8, 1936 in Milwaukee, WI to Peter and Sophie Czernisz, now deceased.

Donald was a U.S. Marine for 24 years and followed up his service with the Veterans Administration (WI and FL) another 21 years for a total of 45 years honorary service to his country.  In retirement he enjoyed reading, following his sports teams and volunteering to help with the media equipment and presentation at Faith Baptist Church.

He is survived by his loving wife, Eileen Czernisz of Cape Coral; three children, Mary Higdon (Jeff) of Priest River, ID, William “Rusty” Czernisz (Barb) of Madison, WI, and Donna Gerardin (Tony) of Sarona, WI; three stepchildren, John Palkowski (Linda) of Agra, OK, Julie Radtke (James) of Sussex, WI, and Ann Sweeney (Frank) of Medina, TN; son-in-law, Steve Wieczorek of Johnson Creek, WI; eleven grandchildren; twelve step grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren, sixteen step great grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews. 

Donald was preceded in death by his daughter, Kristine Wieczorek. 

Graveside services will be held in WI in the near future.  Date to be determined.
