Ernell Smith Glisson, 73 a resident of Lorida, FL, ran to be with Jesus on Thursday, February 27, 2025 while surrounded by family. She was born December 15, 1951 in Ft. Lauderdale, FL to Ernest and Nellie Smith, now deceased. She married James Glisson February 23, 1969 while she was a senior in high school. Because of this, she was forced to quit school. They went on to have 3 children, James, Brian, and Sheri Glisson. Eventually they moved their family up to Lorida to live on Lake Istokpoga where they would often come to visit and fish every chance they could, prior to moving. Ernell began working as an auditor for Farm Stores, and during her years of doing this, she went back to school to receive her GED. Following this, she went on to EMT and then Paramedic school, all while working full time. Once she was certified, she began working for Highlands County EMS. She retired after approximately 20 years of service. And ever since, when she would hear an ambulance siren, she would say, "that's my music". During her tenure as a Paramedic, she also worked at First Assembly of God in Sebring, as the treasure secretary. She loved serving the community and helping people. In her retirement years, she loved to shop, travel, and spend time with family, and friends, but mostly her grandchildren. She loved the Lord, and was instrumental in leading family members to gain a relationship with Him. It gives us great solitude knowing that we will see her again when the Lord calls us home.
She is survived by her husband of 56 years, James Glisson, 3 children, Jim (Tammy) Glisson of Lake Wales, Fl, Brian (Shelley) Glisson of Spring Lake, Fl and Sheri (Craig) High of Lake Placid, Fl as well as 13 grandchildren, Travis (Molly) Glisson, Symberly Glisson, Hannah Glisson, Gavin Glisson, Megan Glisson, Ty Sodrel, Caleb Glisson, Grady Glisson, JJ Glisson, Rylee Glisson, Kinsly High, Shelby Glisson, Aniah Kalinowski as well as a large and loving extended family.
Ernell is predeceased by her sister, Brenda Smith.
