Gary LeRoy Pope, III

Gary LeRoy Pope, III, 34, a resident of Cape Coral, FL for the past two years, formerly of Bridgeville, DE, passed away Tuesday, March 21, 2023, unexpectedly. He was born May 14,1988, on Mother’s Day, in Portsmouth, VA.

Gary Lee was of the Christian faith; he attended church at the Salvation Army in Ft. Myers, FL. He was a mechanic and could fix anything. He always said, if he couldn’t fix it, then “throw it away”! Gary Lee was a fun-loving son, father, brother, and friend to many with a great personality. He had a big heart with a big smile and would do anything for anybody.  He loved the Boston Red Sox and was a big Washington Redskins fan. He really enjoyed playing football and softball. Gary Lee was always there to help anyone who ever needed anything!

Most of all, Gary Lee loved his family very much and especially his son, Gee. He loved music, fishing, camping and anything outdoors, especially 4-wheeling.  Life was never dull with Gary Lee! 

He is survived by his loving parents, Gary and Mary Pope of Cape Coral; his loving son, Gary LeRoy Pope, IV, affectionately known as “Gee” along with his, mother Kaylee Metzer of Bridgeville, DE; brother, Brandon Kyle Pope (Kathleen Harper) of Denver, CO; maternal grandmother, Judy K. McIntosh of Las Vegas, NV and paternal grandparents, Phillip and Barbara Graziano of Cape Coral; aunts, Rhonda Warbritton (Jessie) of Lafayette, IN, and Kimberly Pope Drake (Sonny) of Chesapeake, VA; uncles, Robert McIntosh, Jr. of Johnstown, PA, Kevin McIntosh of Chesapeake, VA, Darrin McIntosh, of Chesapeake, VA, and Michael Pope (Anne) of Virginia Beach, VA.

Gary Lee was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother and grandfather, Maria and Robert McIntosh, Sr.; as well as, paternal grandfather, Gary L Pope, Sr. and aunt, Denise Hefflin.

A Celebration of Life for our son, Gary L Pope, III will be held from 1:00 PM - 5:00 PM on Sunday, June 11^th, 2023 at the Portsmouth Moose Lodge 898 Annex in Chesapeake Virginia, 1400 George Washington Hwy N, Chesapeake, Virginia 23323.
