Janice Marie Adams

Janice Marie Adams, 87, a resident of Cape Coral, formerly of Fort Lauderdale, passed away Sunday, March 16, 2025 in Cape Coral.  She was born July 18, 1937 in Boston, MA to John McGowan, Jr. and Mary Yanonis McGowan. 

Janice graduated from Roslindale High School, in Roslindale, MA in 1955. Shortly after graduating she married her first husband, Donald. In addition to raising her three children, she worked in the medical field – first as an aide in a nursing home. In 1972, she enrolled in Broward Community College where she studied nursing. Upon graduating with her Bachelor’s degree she worked at several area hospitals and nursing homes, even working the late shift so she could be home for her kids in the afternoons. She had a caregiver’s heart – always worrying about those in her care. She will be remembered for her concern for others, her quick smile, her commitment and love for her dog, Nico, and the fact that she raised three very strong and capable children who supported her and each other during Janice’s final days.

She is survived by her three loving children, Donna Oliver of Vergennes, VT, Robert Marson of Little Canada, MN and Karen Woodgates (Michael) of Cape Coral; four grandchildren, Annalise, Joseph, Jessie and Peter as well as two great grandchildren, Roman and Brayden. She will also be greatly missed by her stepdaughter, Joyce Marble.    

Janice was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, John McGowan III.
