Joseph Walter Temerario

Joseph Walter Temerario, 87, a resident of Cape Coral, Florida since 1993, formerly of Amherst, OH, passed away peacefully Tuesday, April 15, 2025 at Hope Hospice in Cape Coral.  He was born October 6, 1937 in Lorain, OH to Joseph and Helena Temerario (nee Jaskulski). 

He graduated from Lorain High School in 1955, married his high school sweetheart Alice in 1958 and they shared 62 amazing years together. They resided in Washington DC, Ohio, and finally their forever home in Florida.

Joseph was an honorable US Army Veteran and had a decorated career that included working Presidential Protection in the Secret Service at the White House, but his most prestigious job was as an Honor Guard at the Tomb of the Unknown Solider in Arlington.

He was truly one of a kind and his smile excuded kindness.  He will be remembered for being a devoted husband, son, father, grandfather and great grandfather.  Joseph had an immense love for his family and friends,  vintage cars, the Washington Redskins, talking about his years at the White House with anyone who would listen, social gatherings, but his one true love, other than Alice, was a good old-school karaoke song.

He is survived by three loving children, David Temerario (Crystal) of Amherst, OH, Gayle Loper (Edward) of Dublin, OH and Nicole Rivera (Rick) of Cape Coral; one brother, Thomas (Debra) of Lorain, OH; five grandchildren, Nicholas (Jenna) Temerario, Jennifer (Jonathan) Stumpf, Gregory (Erica) Temerario, Rachel (Danilo) Loper and Monica (Brandon) Loper as well as six great grandchildren, Harper, Garrett, Oliver, Owen, Carter and Emilio. 

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Alice (nee Meyers), parents Joseph and Helena (nee Jaskulski) Temerario, and granddaughter, Dianna Loper. 

A Celebration of Life will be held Tuesday April 22^nd, at 6pm at Cape Christian Fellowship, 2110 Chiquita Blvd S, Cape Coral, FL 33991. 

A Celebration of Life will be held in Ohio at a later date.
