Larry Ferguson, 80, a resident of Cape Coral, passed away Sunday, May 18, 2025, in Cape Coral. He was born May 28, 1944, in Memphis, TN to Gus and Muriel Ferguson, now deceased.
Larry served in the AirForce during the Viet Nam war. Upon his return to Memphis, he attended Memphis State University (now the University of Memphis) and earned his degree. He became a lifelong University of Memphis “Tiger” fan. Throughout his career he worked in Information Technology as a programmer and Manager at Baptist Memorial Hospital (where he met his wife) in Memphis, Tennessee and later at the University of Winthrop in Rock Hill, South Carolina. Larry loved to travel. He and his wife had many wonderful adventures across the world. He was an avid sports fan especially baseball and golf. Larry loved music with Bob Dylan and classic rock being his favorites.
He is survived by his loving wife, Kim Ferguson of Cape Coral; one child, Clayton Mercer Ferguson of Cape Coral; one brother, Ron L. Ferguson (Kay) of Kansas City, MO, his brother-in-law H. Dean Mercer (Betty) as well as several nieces and nephews (Chris, Patrick, Doug, Jaclyn, and Samantha).
Larry was preceded in death by his daughter, Erin Mercer Ferguson.
A private celebration of life will be held. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made instead to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
