Michael Laney Deaton, 49, of Cape Coral, formerly of Bellville, IL, passed away on Sunday, March 2, 2025 in Cape Coral. He was born on November 21, 1975, in Racine, WI. He grew up in Camden, Ohio and graduated from Preble Shawnee High School in 1995. Earning his HVAC technician license his senior year at JVS ( Junior Vocational School).
Michael was of the Christian faith. He served on active duty in the United States Air Force from 1996 to 2007 when he separated and then took a Department of Defense Civil Service Position. His passions were playing online games with family and friends (shout out to WOW & EQII friends), vacationing with family, his work, and spoiling his baby girl by getting her merchandise for her favorite games. He treated his friends like family and often used his skills as an HVAC technician to help those around him. When he was single, he spoke up several times to replace a fellow airman on deployment, allowing them to remain at home with their families. He enjoyed hanging out with the boys watching Football games and taking the guns out for target practice. He spent over 30 years as a Heating and Air Conditioning technician and work leader (Ellsworth, AFB South Dakota & Scott, AFB Belleville Illinois), and Instructor (Rankin Technical School, St. Louis, MO). In 2023 he was approved for Early Retirement from Civil Service and moved with his family to Cape Coral, Florida.
He is survived by his loving wife of 24 years, Marianne Deaton of Cape Coral; parents, Cynthia and Laney Deaton of Cape Coral; two children, Anthony and Hayden Deaton, both of Cape Coral; mother-in-law, Linda Wilkins of Fulton, SD; one brother, Stephan Deaton of Cape Coral; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins as well as Alli the family dog.
Michael was preceded in death by his sister Jennifer in 1974 and son, Christian in 2005.
A Memorial Service with Military Honor will be held in Camden, OH on Friday March 14th, from 6 – 7 pm at Christ Commission Temple (155 North Main Street, Camden, Ohio 45311).
