Richard Chester Baranski

Richard Chester Baranski, 76, a resident of Cape Coral, formerly of Chicago, IL, passed away Thursday, May 15, 2025 in Cape Coral.  He was born November 12, 1948 in Chicago, IL to Walter and Martha Baranski, now deceased. 

Richard was a member of St. Katherine Drexel Catholic Church.  He served honorably in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. Rich retired as a Chicago Policeman serving for 33 years.

He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Nancy Baranski of Cape Coral; brothers-in-law, Jim Finlayson (Donna) of Chicago, IL, William Finlayson (Mary) of Chicago, IL, Jack Finlayson (Ruth) of LaPorte, IN and Paul Finlayson (Judy) of Woodridge, IL; two nieces, Brooke Finlayson of LaPorte, IN and Jennifer Pundurs (Richard) of Elk Grove, IL; as well as two nephews, Tim Finlayson (Rachel) of Perrysburg, OH and Matthew Finlayson of Downers Grove, IL. 

A Memorial Mass with Military honors will be held at 1:00 pm on June 12, 2025 at St. Katherine Drexel Church, 1922 SW 20th Ave, Cape Coral, FL 33991. 

Committal Services will be held 11:30a on Friday, June 13, 2025 at the Sarasota National Cemetery, 9810 State Rd 72, Sarasota, FL 34241.
