Steven Antonio Arroyo, Sr.

February 18, 1974 — April 22, 2024

Steven Antonio Arroyo, Sr., age 50, passed away peacefully on Monday, April 22, 2024 in Cape Coral, FL, surrounded by his loving family. Born on February 18, 1974 in Riverside, NJ, Steven was the beloved son of Gilberto and Manuela S. Arroyo. He grew up in Burlington, NJ where he attended Life Center Academy.

Steven worked locally for many years, but his most gratifying job was with Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP), where he was employed as an electrician. He would often share stories of some of the medical breakthroughs that took place there.  He valued their support and relentless commitment to helping patients and their families. Many knew him from being a DJ at special events throughout the years. He loved salsa music and dancing. Family dinner dates were a priority for him as he loved spending time with his family and friends.  He touched the lives of many with his kindness, humor, and generosity. His presence will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

In his free time, Steven enjoyed watching live sports. He was an avid fan of the Colombia National fútbol team (soccer), Dallas Cowboys, 76ers and the Phillies. He had a zest for life and a contagious enthusiasm that inspired those around him. His sense of humor and compassion left a lasting impact on everyone he encountered.

Steven had a heart as big as his love for animals. His unwavering affection was evident in his interaction every time he was around a pet. His bond with his pets was a source of immeasurable joy and companionship.

In his last year, Steven had the privilege to travel to Colombia and make a special connection with his parents' origins. There, he enjoyed immersing himself in the vibrant culture, savoring the flavors of Colombian cuisine, and forging cherished memories that he held dear until his final days. There, he embraced his heritage with a newfound appreciation and understanding. This experience deepened his passion for Colombia, igniting an even greater love for the country and its people.

Steven is survived by his father Gilberto Arroyo, Sr., and siblings Gilbert Arroyo, Jr., Bithiah Brown, Monica Rivera (Israel), Jorge Arroyo (Lisa), Wilson Arroyo (Vineet), and Tracy Beach (Robert). Steven is survived by his sons, Julian, Steven Jr., Aaron and Jace, who will cherish his memory and carry his legacy forward. He was preceded in death by his mother, Manuela S. Arroyo.
