Udo Upeslacis

September 14, 1952 — May 11, 2024

Udo Upeslacis, 71, a resident of Cape Coral, FL since 1996, formerly of Olathe, KS, passed away on May 11, 2024.  He was born September 14, 1952 in Lincoln, NE to Alberts Arnolds and Olga Pauline Upeslacis, now deceased.

Udo was preceded in death by his brothers Girts and Marcis Upeslacis.

He is survived by his loving wife, Agnes Upeslacis of Cape Coral; two children, Alan Upeslacis of Cape Coral, and Jennifer Huseinovski (Benian) of Cape Coral; one brother, Janis Upeslacis (Velta) of Pomona, NY; as well as five grandchildren, Karinna, Willow, Kai, Leo, and Lena.

He joined the U.S. Air Force and was stationed in California, England, Greenland and Nebraska.

He met his wife, Agnes, while he was stationed in England and they were married in Scotland.

Udo and Agnes moved back to Lincoln, NE, where he began his career in computer technology and also started their family. Udo, along with his Dad, built a garage onto Udo’s house. He loved working and learning from his Dad on this project. During his time in Lincoln he also loved working with race cars.

They moved to Olathe, KS where Udo worked for Sprint for many years. His son, Alan, joined the Cub Scouts and Udo was a Cub Scout Den Leader and a Cub Scout Master.  They then decided to move and buy a business in Fort Myers, FL. After many years in the sign industry, Udo decided on a different venture and became a realtor. His daughter, Jennifer, decided to become a realtor and created a father/daughter team.

After being a realtor for several years, he decided to retire with his wife, and being Harry Potter fans, enjoyed many trips to Universal.

He loved to cook and learn how to make new recipes from scratch. Two of his famous creations were sausages and saurkraut.  Udo was very passionate in all that he attempted and did considerable research beforehand. He loved working with his hands, especially wood, and made many beautiful creations for his family.

Udo was an amazing husband, father and grandfather. He cherished his moments with each and every one of his family.

His wife and family will miss his random storytelling and debates. (He had a story about how Iceland and Greenland were named).

Udo was of the Lutheran faith and attended Messiah Lutheran Church of Cape Coral.
